Rocca di Montegrossi is located near Monti in Chianti, one of the best sections of Chianti Classico. With 20 hectares under grapevine and 20 hectares of olive groves, the majority of the 100 hectare estate is actually preserved woodland. Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi, the owner of the estate, comes from one of the foundational families in the development of the Chianti Classico wine region and takes his role as steward of the land very seriously. All of the olive the olive groves and vineyards have been farmed organically since 2006, and the estate collects rainwater eliminate water waste. Sustainability continues in the winery with the use of solar panels and renewable energy to power the cellar equipment. The majority of the vineyards are dedicated to growing Sangiovese, the most important grape of Chianti, with smaller plantings of Merlot, Canaiolo, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pugnitello and Malvasia.
Join us for a tasting with the winemaker of Rocca di Montegrossi from 1-3pm in the wine room at Providore Fine Foods. We will be pouring the Toscana Rosato, Chianti Classico DOCG and the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG Vigneto San Marcellino, a wine only made in the best vintages.
