Joseph Busch of Casa Bruno will share the unique wines of Northern Italy's Abbazia di Novacella at this fun and informative tasting. Of the winery, he writes:
"Abbazia equals Abbey. This is, indeed, a fully functioning Augustinian Abbey located in the village of Novacella at the northernmost reaches of the Alto Adige. Founded in 1142, vines have always been cultivated on the property with a keen eye focused on the quality of certain plots on the estate. While the production of wine has been assumed by the lay aspects of the enterprise over recent decades, the award winning winemaker, appropriately named Celestino, is crafting some of the best wines to be found in this mountainous region. Gorgeous aromatics, precise flavors, and great elegance are the calling card of the Abbazia wines. If you want to read up on them, try browsing through the renaissance library at the Abbey, one of the most important in Italy. Failing that, come try them in person!"
